Steering rack upgrade issue!!!

Started to fit my e46 steering rack to my e30 and have hit an issue, I bought two e34 steering link uj and the link off "dan the" but the splines don't match up from the steering column to the e34 uj has any one else had this problem.

From the wiki: "You can either make a custom steering linkage like the one in this guide or one can be purchased from DanThe which involves the use of E34 steering UJs, one of which has to be stripped down and mated to an E30 UJ."

Yeah, you need to split one of the e34 ujs and the top e30 uj, then make a hybrid of e30 top half and e34 bottom half. The other e34 uj can be used as is between the splined shaft and the rack.

Ah well my next question is how do you split them apart as there swaged together?

As above, you need to use half of one of the E30 UJs (the one fitting the column) and half of the E34, it's a fiddly thing but is possible.

There should be a wiki guide on how this is done really.

There's a good thread in the Wiki about using a Corsa linkage, it details how to split the ujs I think.
