I had my sport up on a lift the other day and all seems fine except for the rear valance that sits behind the rear bumper. For anyone who doesnt know what im talking about, it is a thin straight panel of metal which goes along the rear bumper and has a cut out for the exhaust.
Has anyone ever changed this part before and if so, do you have a price/part number?

have a look on the etk for the part number. they are about £90 from the main dealer. you can get patterns cheaper but just go for genuine as it will be better quality, last longer and more importantly fit.
To fit it is idealy a bodyshop job. unless you are skilled with a grinder, spotweld drill, welder, a spraygun and arn't scared of the fact you will have the bootfloor and rear quarters flapping about with the old one removed.
rusty rear valance? it's an e30 m8

i have somewhere. but to be honest i've got that many bloody bmw invoices kickin around atm it will take a whilst to find it. i'll have a look tho 8O the part number is 41351961536. for a facelift. if i don't find it by 2mo just ring your local bmw dealer and they'll give you a price. i'm sure it was about 90 quid tho.

Just looked on my ETK, the part no for the 'tail panel' is 41 34 1 961 508 on the 320 & 325.

Are both those part numbers correct then, with the latter one being for prefacelift model?

My car has the plastic bumpers and later style lights so I've always assumed that my car is the facelift model, I could be wrong I don't know exactly what was changed when they did the facelift. I'm 98% sure that 88 was the cross over year.
