I wondered if anyone on here had fitted a new sun roof seal to their car. I've got my sun roof out at the moment while the roof was being sprayed, so while it was out I thought I'd fit a new seal as the present one is a two piece and starting to show its age slightly. Talking to my local BMW dealer and Cotswold they say that there are three seals. Cotswold quotes a price for all three parts and from the parts numbers from BMW real OEM web sight my local BMW dealer can quote for all three seals at individual prices, the two half seals front and rear and a continuous seal the same length as the two halves. from the diagram on real OEM it looks like you have the two piece seal that fits round the sun roof then it shows a one piece seal, that I cant see on my sun roof, or in my roof and never seen it on any other. My local BMW dealer has no information on this. Is this diagram showing that there is a choice of seals and you can fit, if the sun roof is out you can fit a one piece seal and you have to fit a two piece if the roof is still in place. It seems a bit of a waste of money if you only need the two piece or the one piece but have bought all three.

You can have either a two piece seal OR a one piece seal,no need to buy all three!
I have fitted both types over the years,in both cases the lid needs to be removed.
