Hi all,

Got a little further with reassembling the car today, but I'm a little confused with two things.

Firstly, the boot lock. I think this is how it should go, but there's two things I'm not sure on. Firstly, where does the plug for this come from? I thought there was only one loom that entered the boot (passenger side), and there's no spur to go to this - just the rear lights...

Secondly, does anyone know which position is locked? I'm guessing the central locking system just swaps between locked/unlocked, rather than synchronising all the locks before actuating?

And just to clarify the part I'm on about if the photo is unclear.

Secondly, steering linkage. I'm using an 067 rack, and according the wiki, I can remove the gubio and just bolt the two parts of the column together. So far, it's a) being very hard to close them up - it's really stiff, but b) it looks like the shaft from the lower bit is going to protrude too far and hit the top part of the joint (the bit that attaches the splined shaft out of the bulkhead). Am I going about this the right way, or have I got the wrong end of the stick?

Cheers for any help! :)

Locking doesn't need to be 'synchronised'. It'll sort itself out. All the locking solenoid does is swivel a prt of the linkage between the button and the lock itself out of the way.
Wiring is a separate loom that comes in on the LH side, goes along the back to the boot lock, then goes on to the fuel filler flap on the right.

You need to cut the pointy bit off the lower uj and grind flush

Cheers, bimanut, that's much the conclusion we'd come to - I just wanted to check I wasn't miles off the mark, and considering how important steering is, I didn't want to chance it!

Perfect, thanks once again :) It's been so long since I removed the loom, all my labels have either fallen off, or got so smudged I can't read them any more :(
