The scorpion back box, is it from a 3 piece or a 2 piece?
Have you ever had any problems MOT'ing the car previously with no cat? Your car should be fitted with one legally (Kreg Aug 92 on), but if your MOT tester isn't bothered then your fine.

Iv'e got a full scorpion system on my other convertible. I think its an excellent product. 3 piece system with Lemans back box. Dont think its got a cat on and iv'e never had any problem with the MOT. Can be a bit on the loud side when you hit the gas!.

Hope that helps.

Cheers Gareth.

The centre section for sale there is for a car with a 3 piece exhaust, the link pipe is to fit a back box from a 3 piece system to a centre section from a 2 piece system. These 2 parts won't go together.

Your 100% right Simon yet again, that centre section is the same as mine. I bought my backbox and centre section second hand and the manifold from Motech full price!.

Cheers Gareth.

There is no legal requirement for any car of any age to have a cat. There is, however, a requirement for any car to meet the emission standards prescribed for a car of that particular age. My M20 325 touring although pre '92, meets the requirements of post '92 cars without a cat, because it runs n LPG.

So the cars registered after Aug 1992 K plate legally requiring a cat law has been abolished?

Many people with post '92 LPG powered cars run without cats. It's the emission levels that the law requires, not the presence or otherwise of a cat. For duel fuel vehicles, the MOT test is carried out usuing the fuel on which the car is running when presented for the test.

Hi, I have a 1991 325 auto with a cat, bought a scorpion DTM stainless steel 3 piece system for it without cat ,fitted it removed the LAmbda switch , Ran it for 3 monts ,if you do any with cat and take off lambda switch you will
1. increase fuel consumption.
2. Get no noticable power gain.
3. Increase noise.
I was also told by BMW garage where it is serviced that as it was originally fitted with a cat it would fail its MOT , took it to MOT station where it has had last 2 MOTS who confirmed this.
I have now put on original BMW complete exhaust with new CAT (cost just under( Ԛ£1000) .

If you still wish to go ahead I have the full 3 piecs scorpion system for sale ,(taken off car 3 weeks ago ,needs quick clean up) have original invoice) with all brackets and long bolts for rear box straps . Ԛ£200 for the lot (half price of new )
