Oil Pump Drive Play?

I was fitting my oil pump today. I noticed that the drive shaft has lots of movement, it moves ~10-15 mm up and down? Is it supposed to do this? I cant see anyway of taking up the movement? The shaft still drives the oil pump at either end of its travel so maybe not an issue?

arent you supposed to have the nylon spacer/stopper at each end?

well spotted... yes I did notice im missing one, this wont stop the issue at hand though, When I get a nylon bit it will still have the play.

depends where you put them on the hex part of the shaft...
