316 1987 Baur.
The two door mirrors used to work but all I have now is a click on the left side when I start to adjust them.
Any ideas please ?
Cheers Mart.

Are you sure the click is only on one side? Both should click together, and should only happen when you try to move them up and down.
This is normal, but isn't normally noticed because of the noise from the motor in the one you are adjusting.
The usual reason for both motors not working is the adjusting switch itself.

I changed them over and at first nothing .So I put them back to the original cars.
Then I put the e-30 in the e36 and all worked fine so put the e36 in the e30 and now the left hand side works !!!
I checked all the fuses the other day looking for something else so they are fine.
Still raining .
The right side does not click.

Be thankful that it's not snowing!
Have you checked the connections at the mirrors?

The wiring to the LH mirror runs through both sets of A pillar to door plug and sockets, so has plenty of opportunity to develop problems, but the wiring to the clutch (the click you hear) in the RH mirror is connected directly in parallel with that to the LH mirror, and doesn't pass through the A pillar socket. So, if power is getting to the LH mirror clutch, it should definitely also get to the RH mirror. There's only the plug and socket behind the triangular mirror mounting covers inside the car, and the connections on the back of the mirror motor assembly to check.
If you have either of the mirrors apart, connect a 12 volt bulb of around 5W across the black and brown wires. The bulb should light all the time the ignition is on.
