Hi Folks,

A friend of mine is looking in to buying a car, he got the current number plate from the seller & ran it through the HPI report & came up with this:

Alert Details
Plate Transfer

Ӣ The current plate was transferred to this vehicle on 31/08/2014

Ӣ F***** was applied to this vehicle on 24/02/2012
o This VRM has been recorded as an insurance theft
o The insurance theft was recorded on 12/11/2006 against a HONDA CBR

Ӣ A***** was applied to this vehicle on 09/11/2011
o There are no interests recorded against A******

Ӣ M70 was applied to this vehicle on 13/09/2005
o There are no interests recorded against M70

Can anyone explain if this is ok?
The cars 320D btw
Cheers in advance if anyone can help.

I think it means the previous owner had his Honda stolen, with a private plate on it. With the Honda gone, he transferred his plate to his replacement 320D, and removed the plate again when he sold the car, when it acquired its current plate.
No idea on the M70 bit.

The car has not been stolen.

A number plate that was on it previously, was attached to a motorbike previous to that, which was stolen.

HPI have flagged this, but from what you have posted, the vehicle you have had checked has no record of being stolen.

+1

The 320d wasnt stolen. The Honda which previously had the private plate was stolen and this has been recorded against the private plate.

My wife's no plate comes up as written off on HPI. So when you HPI the number on its current car, it comes up as an alert.

The alert refers to when the plate was on our mk3 Gti when it was written off on 2001 and has nothing to do with whatever car it's on now.

This came to light when the buyer of my last 530i e39 hpi'd it. Luckily I knew exactly what it was as the guy was worried.

It's a bit bloody stupid to be honest!
