ok after the removal of the supersprint exhaust for a 318is, the only other option for a new exhaust is a sebring; for which i wuld need a mortgage
this leaves me with the feeling that powerflow is the only way out?
i only want a single pipe backbox; something that looks and sounds nicer than the current; anyone got any ideas how muhc they will charge?
or any other ideas at all?

You should check out Jetex exhausts.. I'm not sure if they do a 318is system (quite possibly though) but they have lot of 'di it yourself' parts..
When I had a MK2 golf, Jetex were widely regarded as the best for both value and quiet, deep sound.
If the system you want is simple, perhaps you could nock yourself up out of these parts..
Just a thought.

Fella, in the same position but was looking around and http://www.motormec.co.uk/ssprint.html still looks to maybe having some in stock, could be worth a phone call if you still want a supersprint.

I have seen Jetex exhausts for the 318iS advertised in Halfords i think...
Yes mine is stainless, and no i haven't had any problems with it. It is subtly louder than the original, but not LOUD !

if u want mate come and have a listen to mine,, i got mine done at powerflow...
a fair bit cos i replaced both rear and mid boxes,, (they will be doing the front box too eventually,,,)
mine is quite,,, then growls deeply when u push down,,, if you accelerate graudally its not even the loud, its a nice little system. mine cost about 300 all in.(twin exit though, "m3" tailpipes, and a large back box... flippin tailpipes 35Ԛ£ each 70 quid just in that.... 100Ԛ£ for the rear box,,, 30 Ԛ£ mid box, then all the tubing and bits required then labour,,, 1 hour labour charge ;) 30 quid lol )
hope the break down helps...
also AVOID REDHILL RSR branch! cowboy jobbies,,, i had mine there initially,, guys at bromley branch laughed at the quality,,, and redone itall for me free.. yup all new from scratch for nothing, much better quality welding, and consruction, doesnt move like before,,, all sits nicely, and tailpipes perfect. before they wre too far apart...
do try and source a good branch as you pay for workmanship... bromley guys very helpful indeed!

Jetex do a system which I can supply, its aluminimsed (spelling?) steel. Its the half system without CAT but its quite cheap at #176 UK.
Jetex are a well respected company, not so big in BMW so us guys dont really know much about them.
I would defo choose Jetex over powerflow on the basis that its not just a generic box thats being used.
Here's a diagram:

its still a toss-up between that, a supersprint, and a sebring, but the sebring is going to cost 270 and the supersprint if ya can find one 230?

176 quid dude........
Supersprint - doesnt exists, Sebring is bucks but is available immediately but its only a back box remember!
Powerflow - its a straight through pipe nothing else, stick to your standard system over this.

He may be very experienced but he is still working with generic straight through boxes which are going to reduce back pressure by quite some bit.
Remember, its the actual boxes that are of importance awell as how its all put together.
These engines I would have thought require a good amount of back pressure to produce any low end torque.

Sebring is readily available mate.
The picture above is the only picture given to us by Jetex.
For that price you really cant say no - let me make sure they have stock first.

I've heard golfs with the Jetex and I'd say they were the perfect combo. More deep than raspy.
They also sell build it yourself components on their own website.
Hope the Jetex suggestion is a good one.
I wouldn't touch a powerflow unless I'd seen the quality of their work up close and after a while in the salty outdoors (the dealer that is). It's not the quality of the components, they can be very very nice when the workmanship is up to scratch. You just have to be careful some cowboy doesn't just throw the bits at your car and tack it together with non stainless wire! (like some branch did to a mates celica).
How bout a sticky post with reccomended dealers on somewhere on the zone?????
Good companies invest in the design of an exhaust. Remember the volume of the exhaust carries a certain ammount of air, and with it an inertia that aids scavenging in the same way the manilfold does. A badly designed exhaust will kill low down torque. Ever heard a nova 1.1 with a big fat system? FFFAAAAAAAARRRRRRRTTTTTT! Not enough gas to even fill it let alone set up standing waves.
I'm gonna have to get a custom exhaust sorted (for my S50B32 converson)
Gonna try cutting and welding bits of the Z roadster; having the dual twin tail pipes possibly (maybe not - bit chav).
Good luck man.
Jai
