Coated tank... that reminds me, I hope mine hasn't been weighed :P

PS: The nice man did a nice job 8)
How do you pronounce 'either'? I say 'either', but some say 'either'. Either is correct.

Will these E34 calipers fit under 15" wheels?

Cheers :thumb:

No chance, don't think they clear 16" Alpinas either.

Correct, they wont fit under Alpinas which is why I have to change the fronts, I might get it done this month, maybe

Glad you like :D
Apart from the front brakes needing to be changed so I can fit some Alpina wheels, nothing really, the front top mounts have softened up so they will be changed too.
I also want to look at the cooling system again as it struggles in hot summer, especially with the aircon working, the fan is on much too often for my liking. Ive looked at it before but I didnt want to have to mount a separate expansion tank, it looks like im going to have to though as I want a thicker core rad and they just dont seem to come with side tanks. Custom made alu welded is out of the question too, wouldnt look right in the bay

Wow wow wow!!! I have just completely fallen out of love with my car now!!! My car is a piece of sh*t in comparison.

Dan your car is awesome. Never seen such a clean shell.

I have just glanced through every page but when I have a spare few hours I'll happily sit with a couple of tins and read every post.

Top job

Good chance perhaps to go for the M3 offset top mounts winkeye
Couldn't you use one of the standard face- or pre facelift e30 tanks? (if there's enough room left :P) and maybe slide in a proper aftermarket oilcooler as well?

Dont need extra front camber for a road car, unless you have a dislike for inside tyre tread? :D
I could yes but there is no room on the LH side for the facelift, and the preface tank would look right out of place hovering above the 6 branch! I could fit one on the battery tray but its a right mission id rather not have to do, did this with my track car but only because I removed the bulkhead sound deadening to get the coolant pipe around the back of the engine.
It would have to be a smaller tank mounted close to the rad, like the E46/E39's use

Oil cooler also not needed for road use, as decided by Alpina :)

No but last time the outside tread was nearly gone, but maybe that's just me :o: So i thought with a bigger motor..

Running out of options then. Only other place i can think of is moving washer bottle. Maybe relocate to battery tray if that would be an easier job then having the coolant tank there. Or search for a smaller one (e28?) to create room for a coolant tank beside it?
Or fabricate a similar system as e46/39. A bit of black wrinkle paint and it won't look that bad would it?

Whatever you do i'm sure you'll figure it out :D

Don't know how even I had missed this thread in the last 2 years I've been here.

Great work, and my misgivings about changing anything from the originality of the 316 as found gave away as I read more.

Took a better part of yesterday evening and 2 hours at work to go through all the pages :) Thankfully the Zone is not among the sites blocked as 'social media'.

For the cooling:
How about the twin wash wipe bottles that I saw on eBay? They are small and fit close to the radiator.

Don't know if it makes sense. :o:
