I know 16" is the biggest which will fit in from of the rad in an e30

Has anyone fitted one of these ?

They do fit... Sort of

You have to cut the top of the fan housing up until where the top bolts fit and remove the rubber flange at the bottom of the fan housing. Only then have I managed to get them to fit. I made some simple side brackets and drilled the front panel and bolted them up. Cutting the fan housing does not affect them structurally.

They are very powerful fans BUT I've stopped using them, I'm not sure whether it's bad luck or not but I've had a string of duff ones which have either stopped working or have arrived not working. This is to the point I have lost faith in them entirely. Some of mine that have been broken have looked rusty around the motor/wiring, one I took apart but couldn't see anything obvious on why it stopped. There are a surprising amount of electrics aside the actual electric motor.

Different models of E39 had different wiring, don't ask me why but the one with four wires (V8 I think) will not work no matter what you do, I've tried but was told beforehand that there isn't a known way to get them running.

I experimented with the first E39 fan I had and removed all the fan housing asides the bolting structure, this should give you a clear indication of size!

No problem, if you need some actual measurements then I can obviously get some. As it stands I couldn't get the fan housing in whole, it needed some chopping
