the 2.8 is still a quick old thing, the 3.0 are even better still. We had a 2,8 for 5 years great car

Sort of looking for a low mileage, low owner non-M Sport E36 328i Auto Touring or one of these little 'uns, I'm guessing it'll take a few months by which time the folding will have caught up with the plan hopefully :D

I went through a stage of fancying a z3 a few months ago, however they are all overpriced over here. £4k for an auto 1.8 on steels anyone?

Spotted quite a few sub £1K cars, better ones at around £2.5, Z3M roadsters seem to be heading towards £10K and beyond..

Rust is the issue with old Z3's now. Nothing structural, but plenty of scabby rust. Mirrors seize and snap off (I can repair these now - but at a price) but the running gear is simple enough. Rads are Z3 6 cal specific and lots of coin.

It's a shame we didn't get the Z3 coupes here like they have in mainland Europe.

Sounds like a much better ownership proposition than a Boxster/ 996 :D

does it have to be auto? The workshop controller at my local dealer has a factory sport equipped 328i touring silver with black sports leathers and a 113k on it. But its a manual and a Barons car its whole life. He even PDI'd it when it was new for the first owner. S reg i think

He was thinking of moving it on, had it since about 35,000 miles

..sounds sorted  Really needs to be an auto though due to chronic laziness on my part + the PITA factor of driving a manual in London :(

Fair enough, its the sort of 328i that deserves to stay in one piece and not donate its engine to an E30 kind.

I could part with mine. It has the 'council' sport package though.
