I have recently adjusted the handbrake, using the adjusters on the rear of the car. Simple enough job, but now my hand brake light is not working when the handbrake is engaged.

Do I need to adjust the switch, or have I knocked something out of place?

Have a look under the handbrake gaiter

The contacts for the lamp are there and can come loose.

It's like a spade connecter

I've checked this part and everything is still connected. Is the switch travel dependant? It now approx 4 clicks to the top, I know most people advise on 5 clicks

Did it work before you worked on the handbrake?

Does anything else not work that did before ?

Switch should turn the light on when the lever is just moved off of its stop.
Take the gaiter off and short the wire to one of the bolts that fixes the handbrake.
This should make the warning light illuminate with the ignition on.

Yeah it worked fine before, so must have dislodged it. Everything else is working perfect.

All sorted now, the bracket for the switch must have been bent up slightly when I removed the interior so the switch wasn't engaged. Straightened the bracket and all is good
