Hi. I unfortunately don't have an answer for you, but I'm also wondering what shocks/springs are a good fit (for stock layout) on a 325iX Touring. If anyone has details that can help both of us, that would be great!
Thanks!
Thanks!
B4 with standard springs and upto 30/40 drop, i believe B6 and B8 are shorter so you need to lower by 30mm or more. Meyle HD top mounts, sold as fitting e30, e36 and e46. Also don't forget bump stops and dust covers whilst you have it all apart.
Excellent, thanks, I'll change all the related bits too, but I read that b6 suit std ride height and b8 are shorter stroke for lowered cars. Reason I ask is I've used b6 on other cars and found them brilliant, just wondered if anyone has experience of them on a touring...?... Are the b4 perfectly good for std suspension? I thought they might be a quality replacement rather than an upgrade.

b4 are oem std equivalent (bilstein call them "touring class"), are twin tube gas, ideal for std replacement, b6 heavy duty upgrade meant for std ride height, b8 sport upgrade for lowered cars, b6 & b8 are mono tube gas.

I notice that you only say 'rear' in your OP. Whatever you fit to the rear, you also need to fit to the front as well, or you will end up with a strange handling car.
B4s are supposed to be slightly stiffer than the OE standard dampers, and about the same as the optional 'sport' suspension, but will be FAR stiffer than the usual 100,000+ mile OE components fitted to the average E30.
B4s are plenty enough for the average UK road these days, IMO.

Thanks, don't worry, I'll be doing the fronts too, it's just the rear had got a bit "loose"!
Needs urgent attention, I usually try to upgrade the important bits when they need replacing, just wondered if anyone has b6 fitted with std springs,I don't want to lower the car.
