Hello!

Can any kind person tell me whether a regular E30 fuel tank will fit my 1986 325IX LHD?

I know they are totally different from the windscreen onwards but I am hoping they at least share the same fuel tank?

Mine has a nasty hole and BMW want £690 for an OEM replacement...

Many thanks

Nick

Use Realoem to confirm that the part number matches a similar-age 325i. If it does, then any tank (of the same capacity) should be fine.

Same part. Any 63l tank will fit, or the smaller one can be used with modifications to the electrics and fuel lines.

Thank you both.

Realoem is also a great resource!

One more question - will a 63L tank fit the space of a 55L tank..? Think mine is the 55L.

IIRC., some very early shells wouldn't take the larger tank, but yours almost certainly will.
The fuel return pipe will need moving to a stub pipe on the rear side of the larger tank, it will need a second fuel level sender for the LH side of the tank, and wiring to suit, and the fuel gauge in the instrument cluster will need changing.

Thank you - I have fortunately found a 55L fuel tank from an E30 member.
