Standard 15" should have 205/55/15s fitted.
But I like the look of 205/50s
Anything smaller looks shit.

45 profile on 15's would look silly...
195/50/15 is a common size, but not for the E30. As above, you either go with 205/55s or 205/50s, if you don't want the balloon look

Sorry to hijack this thread, but I am also about to put fresh rubber on my 15" BBS'.
I was going to go for the regular 205/55/15's but this thread has made me think perhaps 205/50/15's might be better?
Mine is a cab, sitting a little lower than standard height, on eibachs and B4's.
What are your thoughts. Does 5mm make much of a visual or ride quality difference?

Visually it does make a positive change in my opinion...Ride quality-wise, I doubt you'll notice any significant difference.Gert_8 wrote:Sorry to hijack this thread, but I am also about to put fresh rubber on my 15" BBS'.

50 is a quite high profile anyway, so a drop from 55 won't make the ride hard.

I recently bought a pair of continentals for my touring, 205/55/15s. They were the dearest in the place and I thought they'd be great, but when driving they make a right drone above 40 and I'm pretty pissed off about it as I can't ignore it now. Anyone got any thoughts on this or good recommendations for replacements?
