I'm changing the front springs on my 325i sport but I can't get the control arm or track rod end loosened from the hub, does anybody know a handy way of getting it loosened, or would I need a tie rod puller etc? If so what size of puller(s) will I need for the job,

Thanks

Using a hammer like on the link has worked for me, be careful not to accidentally hit the thread like i have done!

There are tools you can buy to do the job. But none of them are as good as the good old hammer. Hit the hub (HARD) if it still does not drop out... hit it harder. If it still doesn't come out get a tougher guy to hit it lol

this might sound stupid but why do you need to remove the strut to change the springs?? it can be done with the strut in situ.
if it's got t*ts or wheels it's bound to be trouble...............prove me wrong.

The correct way of doing this is to hit with two identical hammers at the same time, on opposite sides.

If you are keeping the track rod ends then leave the nut on the thread so if you do miss is doesn't damage the thread.

Mission accomplished lol, will need to replace the outer track rod as the boot is leaking grease, not sure if I caused it to do that or if it was wear and tear but that will do to another time.

No need to replace the rod end unless the ball joint is worn.
