Were the 6l bmw Jerry cans (fits in the spare wheel well) a factory option on e30's?
Are they a sort after part and what sort of money do they fetch?
Cheers

6l and 9l cans were dealer fit accessories from BMW and yes they make decent money especially the rarer 9l ones.
6l for 14" wheel and 9l for 15" wheel.
6l for 14" wheel and 9l for 15" wheel.

I remember this from before barry
Personly going from what I've ever seen , 6L is rarer and from before the 9L which was made through e36 times and can often still be found brand new
A quick ebay now for current and past completed listings brings up only 1 used 6l one vs 5x 9l inc a brand new one , remember the last time the search stats were similar
6L is definatly not as common and hard to find in like new condition if you can even
Although both are rare items and cool to own

My car has a 6L one inside the horrible old 15" spare - since changed for a 16" alloy. It's originally a German car, Is it correct that you have to have one over there as it's illegal to run out of fuel on the Autobahn???
Anyway, neat little things

I like them and they are a pretty cool item to own.
I think it's also illegal to run out of fuel on UK motorways.

Do bottles of wine rolling about the passenger footwell count as fuel ?Gert_8 wrote:I like them and they are a pretty cool item to own.

Well, I'd say that depends on whether they have rags holding the contents inside, or are empty.Kos wrote:Do bottles of wine rolling about the passenger footwell count as fuel ?Gert_8 wrote:I like them and they are a pretty cool item to own.

Either way, I wouldn't want to be caught napping with them.

By "inside you", I presume you don't mean the whole bottle(s).....diable wrote:Slightly of topic I know but ages ago I got stung whilst driving with booze in the car as I was coming of the elevated section towards Shepherds Bush I could hear a hissing sound in the E36 couldn't work out where it was coming from so eventually pulled over, check all around but nothing look in the back and I noticed liquid.
What had happened was that a loose can of beer that I had forgotten about had rolled around and pierced itself on the seat runner spraying the rear of the car in 500ml of Stella, car stank for weeks afterwards and since then I never carry unsecured booze in my car, on my person or inside of me.
It happens once in your life and it's a lesson learned.
