m20 and m21 gearbox ratios

anyone have any idea on the ratios of the m21 gearbox compared to the m20b25 box?
M40 rightness if you can get to 6000rpm noone can hear your tappets

You mean the box fitted to the E30 324d and 324Td?
According to the E30 handbook supplied with our cars, The 324d uses the same ratios as the 320i, and the Td uses the same ratios as the 325i.
Both auto versions use a box with first and second gears unique to the diesels.

Im sure the td box I have has a larger output flange than the usual M20 box, same as a later ZF

Confirmed by a quick look at the guibos in the ETK. Td has the larger one with 12mm bolt holes.

i have the option to go with a 324d, 324td, or e34 m20 box. i presume the e34 box would be the one to go for?
