I know there is 3 possible variations, Non vanos, Single and Double vanos, but I'm wondering if all cylinder heads coulds fit an non vanos m50 engine. I'm thinking of installing a new one and can only find the vanos kind as rebuilt. I've seen in PBMW etc some boosted m52 have vanos delete...
Could I get a late cylinder head and have a blank fitted ?
Thanks,
JF

Yes you can use a vanos head, just gut the vanos housing and blank the oil supply.
The non vanos stuff is slightly beefier but its also older

Thanks Dan! How do you go about blanking the oil supply? is it a threaded plug or does it involve welding? The question may sound stupid but I have never seen the thing myself and have to weigh the pro and cons and $$ of having the head job done.
