Weber carbs on a 325i?

Is it possible to fit weber carbs onto my fuel injected 325i? If so will they make a difference to performance, running and if they will fit where can i get some from?

As long as you can find or make a suitable manifold they can be fitted.

They'll definalelt make some difference or other to the performance too.

They'll cost an absolute fortune to buy and get set up correctly, much better off using throttle bodies and a new engine management IMO, you can get the ignition right then too, which can make a bigger difference to performance than just the fuelling.

where abouts are you based fella?

One of the scottish lads on here, can't remember who now, is putting Jenvey throttle bodies on and megasquirt ecu.
There is a company called Bogg Bros near Scarborough who are well known for doing bike throttle body conversions on cars, mainly 4 pots though. A search on yell.com or other sites will pull up their details.

Sure I was quoted in the region of Ԛ£600-Ԛ£800 for a turn-key conversion.

Weber carbs are not so hard to set up, nor are they terribly expensive...

They should give you comparable performance/power to slide throttles (which are expensive)...

However, you will need to re-wire the whole car as the ECU will not work without the AFM...This will mean the timing is a problem as there is no adjustable distributor, nor does it have built in vacumn advance/retard...

New, 45DCOEs are around the 250 pound mark, each (and you need 3), plus the manifold and some way of either making the ECU work or a method of getting a conventional distributor ignition onto the motor...

Personally i think carbs are a step backwards compaired to ITB's and a programable ECU.

Either way won't be very cheap or straight forward/easy to fit and tune.
