Recently i thought id fix my gear selector bulb, since its never worked since ive had the car, from what i can recall...
so took the bulb out, swapped it over for the ashtray bulb, as the actual bulb worked, i had a look around to see why it may not be working, thought it maybe connections.
But after inspection, i noticed its not actually connected to anything, theres a grey tube thing with 2 wires inside, but it doesnt seem like its ever been connected as the wires are quite a way inside it, plus i cant find any other wires near that section that it could be connected to.
any info or advice that would help...

Wires to the bulb should come off of the rear of the white plug and socket to the front right of the selector. Green/yellow and brown.
The bulb is a capless 1.2W, fitted into a black plastic holder, similar to that used for the ash tray lights, ABS light and headlamp adjuster lamps, which slides into a tube on the lever, and is held in by a plastic hook. The wires from this holder turn back on themselves, are cable tied to a slot next to the tube where the bulb is, and then go to the plug.
The wires fail more often than the bulb.

brian, this is my point, the section where it turns back on themself, is not connect to anything on the bottom part of it, the top is where the bulb is...The wires from this holder turn back on themselves, are cable tied to a slot next to the tube where the bulb is, and then go to the plug.

the wires are in a grey tube sort of thing, and have no sort of connectors on them, etc...
