Trying to replace the handbrake cables on my 89 325 I .car has a disc brake back axle . When I offer up the new cables the outer cover is about 1/2" -1" to short. The suspension is max droop with the rear shock connected. The inner cable is ok but the outer won't reach and is routed the same as old cable . The old and new cable when laid side by side the old is longer .my local factors ,gsf and euro car parts all have the same shorter length cable . Anybody had this issue or a part number for correct cables. Checked bmwfans website and there number cross references to factor supplied cable . Any ideas ?

In short, no! I've heard of cases where the inner is short, and that's because the ends of the old outer have been left in the metal tubes above the rear beam, and there's many cases of wrong parts having been supplied when the production date of the E30 in question overlaps the start of E36 production. Try ordering parts for a '92 E30 from the likes of ECP, and you're likely to get E36 parts, but shouldn't happen with a '89.
