If i had a e30 strut, could i take the wheel bearing assembly from a e36 and fit that? If so would the abs ring line up ok, and all of that?
I want to know can i make a e30 strut 5 stud, and use a different type of caliper.
thanks

The ABS ring will be the least of your problems. The E36 stub axle is of a larger diameter and longer than an E30 one, so the E36 bearing needs a thin walled sleeve to fit on, and then the threads of the stub axle don't protrude far enough to safely take a nut.
It's been done, but it's not simple.

They are five stud, totally different, and very expensive.
Complete E36 struts can be fitted, along with a few other bits, but the suspension geometry will always be a compromise.

nightmare, just when i thought i had cracked it, im trying to get porsche calipers under 15" wheels, and i thought e30 strut as the caliper mounts are further in giving room to mount the caliper, e36 hub, and e36 286mm disk.
But wont work.
back to the drawing board, its looking either custom hub, or cut the mounts off the e36 hub and weld radial mounts on.
thanks

Just done exactly what has been described above re bearing and sleeve, there is also a way to fit a proper depth nut to the correct torque and lock them off in the standard bmw way.
I wasn't going to say much about it but a couple of people have asked recently so I will put a thread together at some point soon.
