Is mostly original paint though not completelybss325i wrote:Depends if the car was completely original paint wise and your M3 is not so that answers that question!pony wrote:So if a car is resprayed purely to get rid of stone chips would that improve or reduce its value ?
I have had paint depth measured all the way around the vehicle
E46 M3s just seem to get stone chips very very easily
Nah, i want it to handle properly thanks.pony wrote:U forgot M-Technic springs / Boge shocksbss325i wrote:RE my sport, it looked rude with all the alpina parts and the retrimmed recaros were nice enough but I wanted the car to look as close to as it would have done back in '89 and that meant no retrims, no Alpina parts and no big tunez!

I would have thought you want OEM handling seeing as you got OEM exhaust / stereo etcbss325i wrote:Nah, i want it to handle properly thanks.pony wrote:U forgot M-Technic springs / Boge shocksbss325i wrote:RE my sport, it looked rude with all the alpina parts and the retrimmed recaros were nice enough but I wanted the car to look as close to as it would have done back in '89 and that meant no retrims, no Alpina parts and no big tunez!

Worth more than if it had paint chips, but less than if it had never been chipped.pony wrote:Is mostly original paint though not completelybss325i wrote:Depends if the car was completely original paint wise and your M3 is not so that answers that question!pony wrote:So if a car is resprayed purely to get rid of stone chips would that improve or reduce its value ?
So restoration has improved the value, but not to where it would have been if the damage had never happened..

In fairness, Andy's chromie was solid as a rock and he paid peanuts for it.
Citybus's chromie, that sold for £5k, was like new!

Andy's? Yea it was. It was a nice car but for £4k it was to rich for my blood.

...at a certain level of rarity condition becomes immaterial though. If you have a 250 GTO it doesn't really matter if you crash it into a wall, because there will always be a long queue of multi-millionaires buyers waiting to buy one
On super-exotics poor 'barn find' condition examples can be worth more than restored cars, this probably only happens when restoration costs are less than the anticipated future value?

No, it was an absolute beaut. It languished for ages on autotradrer and I didn't bother to look at it as I assumed it must be rotten if noone had bought it. Andy went down to see it, and found it was indeed a cracker and by then the poor chap was desperate enough to part with it for buttons...Gert_8 wrote:Green one?!!bab-91 wrote:snakebrain wrote:Was that the green one? Get it bought! All it needs is a proper gearbox, and it needed one of those the day it left the factory...

The colour is triumphantly, nay exuberantly, of the period. And you'd molest your own cat if you got a chance, so I don't see that being a problem!

I'm not really a red car type of person, people might be fooled into thinking I want to talk to them.

I think it's my favourite colour for that bus. It's pretty much British Racing Green?

BL Tundra is nothing like BRG. Tundra is lighter and looks like someone's smeared a babies nappy all over the car. It really is shit!bab-91 wrote:Andyboy wrote:Tundra green.
