Depends why you think it's messed up :? If there's a danger of water having got into the oil, then it's a bit of a no-brainer really! :D

Nothing like that, I did a full oil change a couple of weeks ago and no water. TBH I didn't know whether there would be any oil in the oilways that would spill out when removed. Doe's the oil just sit in the sump until the engine is started then?

If there's any oil sitting there, then emptying the sump isn't gonna make any difference anyway!

Got the HG off, I kept the old one which I think is OEM and the recent one from ECP's seems different. The new gasket has deteriorated badly and is stuck to both surface pretty bad whereas the old one came off with sticking whatsoever. The ECP one has bigger holes for the oil ways(I take it the oil ways are the little holes) and slightly covers them and on the 2 centre bolts (top and bottom) the original and diagonal elongated holes (on each) and the new has 2 holes for each bolt, this is where the gasket has stuck the worst.
Ant way am cleaning the surfaces now, some job that is, and am then off to ECP to slap the gasket round their chops.
