Still having some problems with my M20B25 engine. It seems to be getting worse.

When starting from cold it seems to be running very rough to the point where the idle tries to stay where it normally is when warm, around 800rpm. But once I rev a little, the idle goes down like it's going to stall then climbs back up above 1000rpm and its fine then. I think this has been covered a few times before but I still haven't found my answer. Anyway, my main point is....

Today, I turned the steering wheel while the car was idling and the car stalled. Started her up again and drove about 10-20 meters, engine stalled when I presses the accelerator after changing gear.

It seems like the power steering pump took a lot of engine power.

If I disconnect the battery for an hour or so (which I believe resets the ECU?) it seems fine when starting from cold for a day. then gradually develops the same symptoms again.

Any ideas why it would stall when I turn the steering wheel? I know the power steering pump takes some power from the engine but sure not enough to stall it?

Thanks

Rhys

Sounds like an air leak to me. you need to go over the whole intake system very carfully perf with a a can of brake cleaner. if you spray somewhere and suddenly the revs pick up you will be close to the problem.

Ok. I'll try that again. Didn't think an air leak could be causing this. Thanks!

Would it make sense that when the car is warmed up these symptoms seem to nearly all go away? As the engine components expand and close the leak a little?

Thanks!
