Bit of a head scratcher this one, but I have a question about offsets! I've got a set of Ronal 8x17 alloys with some very good Bridgestone Blizzak winter tyres (225/45x17) fitted. I had these on the wife's 123d then her Z3, and I want to fit them to the 330i Touring. The offset is ET35, but looking at RealOEM, all the BMW 17in alloys for E46s are ET47 offset (bar one or two which are ET41). So does anybody know if the Ronal wheels might fit as the are, or do I need to find 12mm spacers (if such things exist?). And if so, any idea where I might get some? I think H&R do spacers? Thanks guys

They should be fine. They may have a bit more "poke" but not enough to have issues with them catching on the arches
I run 8x17 et 40 and 5mm spacers which changes the et to 35, with the same tyres and have to problems

Thanks Kos. I always get myself mixed up with offsets - I was thinking that 12mm spacers on a 35ET wheel would result in a 47 offset!
So in reality, the Ronals will sit further out than the current wheels? I was worried about calliper clearance etc.

You'll have more clearance
As much as I understand off sets it still can involve head scratching at time

If the wheels you currently have on the car are ET47 and 8j then the new ET35 wheels will be 12mm closer to the arch

Somewhat bizarrely, the car is fitted with 7x17 ET47 Style 73s with 225/45 tyres, yet the build sheet states that it was fitted with 8x17 ET47 Style 89s from the factory which would make sense for a pre facelift 330i SE. I can't imagine that the build sheet is wrong so the wheels must have been swapped at some point in the past, which is unusual becasue the car is absolutely original and unmodified so it seems an odd thing to do. Unless they were dealer fit for some reason?
Either way, it sounds like the Ronals I've got with the winter tyres will be doing another winter of faithful service!

Need to get my winters on this week. I've left it slightly later than usual as it's been pretty mild so far and I'm not working early mornings.

It's been pretty frosty here of late and I'm expecting a little bit of snow, so winters make sense!

It was a bit cold and frozen over a few days ago but not bad enough to get out of shape unless being a real animal
Still, as I've got winters I may as well just throw them on

Absolutely - if nothing else, it saves a bit of wear on the summer tyres and as soon as the temperature drops below 6 degrees or whatever it is then they'll be doing their job.
