Hi,
What does this part do? Marked in red, has a hose going from it.

Pic borrowed from the interwebz

I was checking blue temp sensor as I have difficulty starting car now due as it got cold. And while getting to it noticed that hose in picture had a rip, so I wanted to check it better and it just snapped... I assume it was never changed so 20 years old... So now its broken at place I marked in green.

Question 1: what does that part do? And can I drive with it broken while I get new hose?

Q2: Ohms at sensor and at ECU plug were 230-240 ohms when hot, wiki sais should be about 330 ohms. Car didn't cool down all way before it got too dark, so will check cold tomorrow, but this looks like sensor is bad? And wiring itself good

No fuel should be running through it

Indeed, it is a vacuum hose, taking negative pressure from the inlet manifold to activate the regulator.

It certainly should be replaced asap.

I changed my regulator and the hose few months ago.

Here's some info, if you're interested > http://www.e30zone.net/modules.php?name ... 69#2730669

Yes, ECP = Euro Car Parts.

Try BM Mini Parts > http://www.bmminiparts.com/

Put the last 7 digits of your VIN in the field and then search that way.

There's absolutely no reason to change a fully functioning fuel pressure regulator, unless there is evidence to suggest it's faulty. If it's just the vacuum hose that has failed, then that's all that needs replacing.
With the hose like it is now, your car will over fuel somewhat at idle, partly counteracted by air leaking into the inlet manifold via the hose.
Your blue sensor hot reading seems far enough out to consider replacing it, or at least comparing it at several different temperatures with a known good one.
