hey guys, just went round my dads good freinds house because my dad said he had saome nice e30's and other cars(he collects cars). When i went round i got chatting with his 2 sons and i asked them to show me there rides.Anyway one of the sons had this amazing E36 which he told me was a EVO 3.2(certainly looked like one)but when looking at it it looked like he never drove it,the car was dirty and looked like it was parked there for ages. Then he looked at my car and fell in love with it,he asked me the ULTIMATE QUESTION................Do you wana part x with my e36?
I replied saying im not sure, basically his dad dont let him drive it anymore because he is always getting it scratched, dings etc.
THE CAR-basically its a 320,Darkar Yellow, but everything from a evo has been put in to it(proffessionally)including kit,3.2 engine, diff, interior the list goes on and on.
Your opinions on what i should do,shall i swap???

if you can insure it and its all working not a bag of problems then id have it - it might not be an original m3 evo (so not worth as much) but if its got the grunt and all the kit to handle it then it will make an awesome car!

he fired the car up and also took me for a drive,my mate has the exact thing(but original)and it sounds and drives like his,i was really impressed.
Insurance wise on the log book it still states that its a 320,so should definately be able to insure, hes coming down on saturday so i can have a look at the car properly in the light and also just to be sure im taking it to my mecahnic and bodywork guy to check it out properly.

i think id probably keep the 325 sport.id rather have a car that is faster than it looks, not slower, saves you getting embarrassed at the lights

ok - well first thing you n eed to do is tell them its been modified, if you get involved in a crash or get checked by the police and they find out its a 3.2 you will get shafted, but temporarily it would be ok to insure it as a 320 - just check what it woudl cost to insure it as a m3 evo.. you might be able to blag it as being a kit car, tell them its had x y and z done to it and dont mention its an m3 replica - just tell them its had body kit on, engine gearbox diff and suspension transplant... they might take the bait - i've heard it done before!!
I hope you go for it - the 3.2evo's are out of this world! hehe even ifs its a 320 converted... still goes like the real thing then thats all that matters!

i misread your original post, thought it was just an imitation with a 320 engine
in that case id probably do the swap as well, depending on its condition

I would keep the sport, more of a classic shape then the e36 and a better car i think anyway.

Keep the sport, definitely. Practical classics say E30's are starting to appreciate in price, something a filthy, scratched and dinged (your own words) 320i with a transplanted engine certainly wont. You don't know the history of the car, can you imagine trying to sell it on?
"Its a 320i but the bloke before me had some bloke drop an M3 lump in it." Doesn't sound too promising to me mate.

That the thing, did this guy want to part ex, depends on how good the deal is and dont forget its not going to be worth as much as a genuine M3m3ben05 wrote:Id do it in a heart beat mate, 320bhp and a sweet looking car. Does he want to do a streight swap?

as much as i dont like e36s, a well maintained one of these wil kill most things they are so fast
and a more modern car, it may not be worth as much but its refined and handles spectacularly and is ultra quick

it it was me and everything is legit with the car I'd go for it. Be a car you can have for keeps for a long time, specially with the power going thru it. Get the insurance sorted you get a green light do it!

The insurance company may charge you for 320 insurance PLUS Evo 3.2 insurance.
My bro was looking at a Cosworth replica with a 2ltr engine in, but the insurance wanted to charge him for a Cosworth PLUS the charge of insurance for a 2ltr.
Doesnt sound a very well looked after car, especially if his dad has had to stop him from driving it due to scratching and denting it.
