hello zoners .
i was wondering !
my friend brought me an rpm gauge which is really awkward ,
never seen before ,
it's a gauge without the economy .
just a plain gauge only rev numbers , it's also a 6 zyl version , but why no eco l/100km or mpg
so is it rare in the uk ?
how much is it ?
and what models did it come equipped with it ?
should i install it instead if my stock 6 zyl one ?

It looks really bare with out the economy needle. No idea what it's from though.

You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity

Very odd that you say it's a 6-cyl version. That particular tacho was only fitted to poverty-spec 4-pot modelswith the M10 engine.
The gauge itself is part 62 13 1 380 585 if you want to check.

The bronzit '88 325 that I sold to Simon did not have an economometer in the rev counter. I had known the car since 89/90 so I am pretty certain it was original.

i think mainly it was a early 316 type thing. But the bronzit did have those clocks.

Used to Think it's a 6 Zyl Gauge because of the Rev Limit (6300) ,Grrrmachine wrote:Very odd that you say it's a 6-cyl version. That particular tacho was only fitted to poverty-spec 4-pot modelswith the M10 engine.

but It Turned out the M10 4 Zyl Engine had that 6300 rev as-well .
We All know the M40/42 has a Rev of 6000 rpms limit ,
That's Why I thought it was a 6 zyl one .
Looked for it on ETK , and It's For Early models 318i E30's with m10 Engines . models Before 1985 or So .
Thanks for the Info Mate , Cheers .

Is there not a very slim chance it had the cluster replaced to cover up the 50k miles the car did in its first year? I can't seem to find any other car on RealOEM that had that gauge fitted, beside measly M10-engined turds.pacerpete wrote:The bronzit '88 325 that I sold to Simon did not have an economometer in the rev counter. The plot thickens. This Diesel cluster has a no econometer either:

but I can't find any evidence of it in RealOEM, and even the part number yields SFA in terms of google results.

The car was supplied new by Hexagon and bought by my customer as a demo. I was wielding the hammers from when the warranty expired so it would have to have been swapped very early in its life.Grrrmachine wrote:Is there not a very slim chance it had the cluster replaced to cover up the 50k miles the car did in its first year? Many of the lower models in Germany were not equipped with the useless econometer either, like this one

Wy useless? Instant info even though it jumps around a bit in city traffic but with it's not to important function it works good enough for me .. especially with highway cruising on cc. Pretty accurate to.Z3I wrote:Many of the lower models in Germany were not equipped with the useless econometer either,
For more detailed info on the subject you need to have an obc 2.

If you continue doing that in these conditions then probably very soon you'll have the proud honor of starting a 'crashed sport' topic if you're, by that stage, are alive to do so...pony wrote:Had the odd moment ! I did do "indicated" 130mph !
