Front fog light switch

The weather over the weekend helped me to find out my front fogs won't stay on. They work when the switch is pushed in but the switch won't stay in. The rear works fine.

Is this a fault within the switch? is this a common fault with an easy fix by any chance or will it require a new switch?

I have another car breaking but it only has rear fogs so it's a one button switch rather than a split front and back buttons.

I gather from the Wiki that this switch is interchangeable it will just bring front and rear light on at the same time so will do for a temporary fix, but Ideally I'd like the original split button style.

Sounds like you will have to rebuild the switch, but first, try spraying WD40 in using one of those thin extension pipes, and swill it about inside a bit, whilst working the button(s) in and out fairly vigourously.

Cool, I'll try it later.

If need by I'm happy to dismantle and rebuild the switch, done it in the past with other cars to replace bulbs etc. didn't know it it was repairable or if something may have snapped off inside.

Switch comes apart very easily, and more importantly, goes back together equally easily.
Practice with a switch from your breaker first.
Clean the contacts with propitiatory switch cleaner, lubricate with a very small amount of silicon grease, and it'll be fine for another twenty years.
AFAIK, if you fit the single switch, it will just work the rear fogs, with the fronts not working at all.

Take it apart with the front of the switch pointing upwards, and there shouldn't be any flying springs.

That's what I would expect but the Wiki says otherwise, have I spotted a mistake?

The switch can be either two separate buttons for front and rear, or a combined "bar" switch that operates both at the same time. These switches are interchangeable.
