Farecla G3 Formula Body Prep Clay Mitt!
You probably all know about this, but this is by far the best money I've spent on my E30 all year!
You can literally feel it working.. and I went from what would usually take me an hour plus (and a dead arm) to clay my car.. to 15 minutes!
Each panel was smoother than a babys bum!.. not that I've felt any!
Recommended to anyone who cares about their body work.

Fairy liquid is pretty shit to use on paintwork. Strips all the nice protective wax off.
I'll have a look for this, although non of my turds are nice enough to clay bar right now

Shit turfs are what need a clay bar, once a car is clayed polished and waxed , keep it waxed and it won't need claying again for a long time
Been pondering ceramic coating my car, anyone had it done to an e30 yet?

Google and YouTube ceramic coating , looks amazing
Costs about £250-300 to have it done professionally , lasts around 5 years with no need to wax etc , just clean it

Just ordered one off eBay. Some gutless scumbag scraped the missus 320d cab and drove off, so I've now got an extra job next week and this might just make it a bit easier.

Clay bars going to do sweet FA on 20 years of bumper scrapes and general abuse on the scooby and since the e30's engine is currently at the machine shop, I don't think there's much point doing that eitherpolsta wrote:Shit turfs are what need a clay bar, once a car is clayed polished and waxed , keep it waxed and it won't need claying again for a long time

First ive heard of it, just done a quick search and it appears to be a cloth replacement for clay, how long is it supposed to last? Looks good

I think I could easily use mine another 3 times, which would probably be a years use.. so 12 quid for a years effortless claying is a bargain if you ask me!DanThe wrote:First ive heard of it, just done a quick search and it appears to be a cloth replacement for clay, how long is it supposed to last? I've applied it to a new A class and I applied a a quarts/Teflon sealant to nicks e30 prior to his euro road trip earlier this year
Glass/ceramic/crystal/quartz/Teflon sealants are pretty much all the same in terms of what they do and how they need to be applied. And they will need to be applied by a pro.
Some facts
Your paint needs to be perfect, so to that cost of £250-£300 account for paint decontamination and correction. Even a brand new car will need machine and correction work
It will not last 5 years, for example Car Pro's C quartz will last 2 years with a good wash technique
If you have a good wash technique and your car was been painted with good quality materials and you use a wax or polymer Sealant then there is nothing to be gained by using a ceramic/glass coat
With maintenance of a ceramic / glass coat. You will need to top it up. It's not as simple as wash dry leave.
The reason it's becoming popular is that it's perfect for people don't have time wash their cars properly.
