Any advice on what to use to get the engine bay spotless? Took the lump out yesterday and it's in a bit of a mess so want to clean it up and sort a few rust bubbles.

Cheers guys

Scrub with white spirit, remove all rust with dremmel, prime fill and flatten as required, send to body shop for new paint.

Well worth it.

TFR = Traffic Film Remover is acid and a works a gem 50/50 mix if pure with water or spray neat and wash off quick just so the oil and grime is waked up to get it off

This ! To just remove grime, spray it work in with tooth brush on heavy areas , rinse off, will give you a good idea of what to do next, ie paint or not like Jimbo says , well worth it to do so tho

If I wasn't on a time schedule to get my Touring on the road I would have cleaned my engine bay, it is black and thick with oil, as it stands now the thick layer of oil can stay put as rust preventative, all be it an unpleasant looking one.

Cheers guys. I'll probably end up getting it sprayed when I have some body work done.

Just removed all the bulkhead insulation. It's in great condition so there's one last thing to worry about

It's part of the front panel and they offten get scabby but give it a once over with a wire wheel and you might be surprised how well it will come up.
