FUEL CONSUMPTION 316i AUTO
Moderator: martauto
I put 40 quid in it, drove at moderate speeds, am now down to below half a tank and have only done 132 miles? surely this can't be right?? My 323i was better than this? Any ideas what it might be, the air filter is clean!

Geez, why'd you lose the 323i for the 316i Auto? Isn't this a step back?
Are you sure your fule guage is accurate? I would use all the tank then calculate your miles per gallon accurately by dividing the miles you have done by the fuel used. I reckon you should be getting at least 30mpg depending on whether city or motorway. If not then you may have a problem somewhere.johnnyboy wrote:I put 40 quid in it, drove at moderate speeds, am now down to below half a tank and have only done 132 miles? surely this can't be right?? Hope this helps.
Used all my tank up driving conservatively and only managed 199 miles on a mixture of motorway and town driving. THe car runs fine and doesn't miss a beat, any ideas?? No fuel leaks anywhere. Oil hasn't been changed for ages thought, probably years its blacker than black.
cheers,
John

Full service might be the answer then. Just doing the oil, plugs and the 2 filters should make a huge difference.johnnyboy wrote:Used all my tank up driving conservatively and only managed 199 miles on a mixture of motorway and town driving. If the oil hasn't been changed for years imagine what your air filter looks like!
