FFS, when you have a thread with Polsta and Rach arguing about what is deemed to be correct it's similar to being serenaded by Jedwood! - it starts off being a little fun, but at then end of it you feeling like killing some coont! :D

It was(FACT!) but with the constant fear of the local yokels chawing them, they are now safely stored in his basement. Well they were.Unfortunately (for Gert) Verde has cleverly hidden them on / in his person and when last released, they ended up being attached to his brown turd :)

Innit.

If I can get it fitting and looking like this, I'll be chuffed. I'm way more bothered about colour match, fit, locking pins and carpet quality than ultimate hOEMo level.

The picture of that mat does look good...

Just one thing, would it not look better if it was to extend "up" further behind the pedals?

The place has E30 mat templates - they've been making them that long. I'm just gonna go with that.

Well Friday if they stick to their plan.

But I'm being quote tough with them in terms of asking for constant samples and forwarding all the images of the VARIOUS original mats etc so thats slowing it down.

The second I get them in my mitts they'll be up on 'Zone.

Issue is that they wont look anything like the photo as the E30 carpet is not flat in the footwell like modern cars, I actually think a slightly smaller area mat would look more aesthetic than the original template as it wouldn't curve up around the outer edge.

Plus a new carpet would go some way to flatten out the floor.

Okay.

So the guys have the machine to do the sewn edging - but the only yarn they have for that is RED lol. Apparently its a special type of thread and they won't order any in unless its XX orders.

Even more bizarrely, they only have the leatherette edging in Black or INDIGO BLUE lol.

Their standard widely available edging is a cloth fabric - maybe something akin to a heavy cotton or canvas.

I await more samples of E30 Anthracite and Silber Grey carpet. But the edging is going to be an issue if there's not big orders. Even 50 wouldn't be enough to order custom coloured yarn.

I'm guessing the only viable customers are gonna be the Anthracite crew. There's probably enough of you out there to put in an order of correctly matched colour lux carpet, matched sewn edging and correct locking pins.

Everyone else is gonna struggle - unless you want Indigo blue with Indigo leatherette edging...

Not here yet dude - soon as I have them they'll be up.

Been looking for other suppliers but nobody is really doing much.

I'm currently running a set of Royal Blue MotorMec ones in my car - its getting critical...

So another call with the place has revealed some interesting info.

They DO have yarn to do woven edge binding (Homo style) in Black and Dark Grey / Anthracite.

I've asked for samples of the Anthracite carpet and yarn but will need to forward onto whoever has that Anthracite carpet for a match test as I don't mess with that dull shit.

So if my Mats turn out well, you lot can order them in Grey with homo binding.

Watch this space.

So a premium mat set with correct lock pins = £70.

Out of interest I got a quote from an injection moulding firm that could create a perfect replica of the heel pad, with all the detailing, BMW logo etc and colour matched. The mould is around £1250 then £2 per pad.

So, lets say we ordered 100 mats, with the heel pad fitted also. The unit cost for each set would be £82.50 as a total non-profit project. To me, thats not a bad price at all.

How many orders could the zone get? Just vote to get a rough idea. We could sell the surplus online - even the heel pads would be worth something.

The heel pad would be very easy to replicate. Biggest hurdle is texture / material accuracy. Colour and visual replication is no problem.
