Hi guys
Im new here and feel bad that my first post is asking for advice, so i apologise for that!
Ive been asked by a close friend to find out the value of his mother in laws E30 318i AUTO.
Its a genuine own owner from new car with only 22,000 miles. Its been in the garage for the past 4 years and started on the second turn of the key.
It needs to be valeted and MOT'd but other than that it is in mint condition with no marks or scratches.
I appreciate its not an M3 or 325 sport etc so not the most desirable model but any help with regards to its value would be very much appreciated.
(i do have some photos but havent uploaded them yet as dont want to be seen as trying to advertise it as i really am after some advice so my friend doesnt get ripped off when he sells it)

Here comes the posts about rust, how many doors and the on going debate about whether low mileage 318's will ever become valuable..

I'm sure the red 318 your referring to has 27k on it and a rusted out scuttle panel.Fal_325i wrote:Is this the red one that was in the Facebook page by any chance?

Get it MOT'd and give it a proper valet / detail then put it on ebay with lots of decent pictures and an accurate informative description. Use the ten day auction format and ignore all the people offering you £400 , cash, now !
A four door four potter is not the crown jewels but cars with that sort of history / mileage are now very rare and sought after. It could well make 4 - 5k to the right freak/weirdo/peado

I think thats a good idea. Valet,MOT, good photos and get it advertised. I guess its one of those cars that its worth what the right person wants to pay for it.
Any other input is much appreciated
cheers

This is one of those funny ones that could be utterly worthless or earn a nice chunk.
As others have said, a valet and a good set of photos could work wonders, but it might also be worth spending a bit on some mint-but-period rims; even some 14" bottletops are better than those hubcaps

Yeah period wheels would set it off for sure.Grrrmachine wrote:This is one of those funny ones that could be utterly worthless or earn a nice chunk.

Just a small observation, but if it's one owner from new how comes there's what looks like a second hand car dealers sticker in the rear window?

The car was supplied new by Wellsway BMW main dealer in bath (the name on the bottom of the number plate) to the current elderly owner.tom325ise wrote:Just a small observation, but if it's one owner from new how comes there's what looks like a second hand car dealers sticker in the rear window?
The sticker in the back window is "Clayton cars" who are bmw servicing specialists not second hand car dealers.

Consider getting the likes of
Munich Legends
Old Colonel
4 Star Classics
Doing a sale or return
ML especially have a good rep in getting top money
This E30 though will only appeal to very select market and is nice to see a clean unmolested original BMW
Also other places to advertise
Car and classic
Pistonheads
Autotrader
BMW Car Club website

Don't bother with alloys. The peado's interested in these kind of things will be more interested in it being 100% original

shame she never bought a 325 sport or an M3, still as said it has a value to someone out there, you just need to find out how much imo I would think it must be worth around the 3k mark maybe more
