I am taking the inlet manifold off of an old m20 that someone gave me. I have all of the bolts off, but I think I also need to remove the oil return tube to get the manifold to slide off of the studs. Is this correct? How do I get it off?

It has a spring at the bottom, pushing it up into the inlet manifold, so it's just a matter of holding it down. Compress the spring with fine wire or small cable ties when refitting, and always renew both O rings.

At a guess, the tube is stuck at the top...so it will not slide down to allow the manifold to slide down it's studs.

Wriggling the manifold will help to break it's grip,as will twisting the tube.

Yep thanks guys. A bit of wiggling and pulling down the pipe popped down and the head came off.
