Hi All,
I have just joined E30Zone as I am about to get back into an E30 after many years in a different ride... Now, the E30 325i that I still own (but it's with my folks interstate - I am in Australia) but I haven't driven the car for many years, is in dire need for a clutch kit.
I have been quoted on 2 brands;
LUK
Sachs
There is about $100 difference in price. My question is, what is the difference in quality please? Pros and cons of each brand?
Next, question is about the flywheel. More than likely it will need to be machined as the clutch is so severely knackered, that the flywheel is probably worn somewhat. Again, worth buying a brand new one or just machining up the existing one? Bearing in mind the car is not a performance car, but is going to be a rolling resto becoming a top quality weekend car.
I want to ascertain the if saving $100, is worth it and machining/replacement of the flywheel is the best option.
Thanks in advance
Shane

The Sachs is a much better piece of kit, but the LUK will be fine on a standard 2.5 engine
Out of over 100 flywheels ive handled ive probably only ever had 2 or 3 that have needed machining so its doubtful the flywheel will be overly worn

I fitted the LUK kit to mine - it's the one pictured in the Clutch install guide in the Wiki. Hasn't let me down.
