Has anyone gone down this path before. I need a key for a lock that I have the code for, HB4762, does anyone know of a route, other than BMW itself who could provide a replacement key?
Thanks!

Hi Ben, I was told by Cotswold that it takes months, and is expensive., was looking to fast track getting a key.BenHar wrote:Paul,
Why not BMW? I just got a new key from them for £20. Expensive, but not terrible.

Did you just give them the lock code like I have? And how much did it cost?
Cheers!

Went to Vines in Redhill.
I gave them the VIN (had to take in the V5C to prove that I owned the car).
They looked up the key code and ordered it. Turned up in two days.
General key (code) CODE* 10001 ? 51211900877

Slight difference with my request is that it is for the roof bars, not a car, so may have to take a bar in to prove the purpose! Will give it another try. Cheers!

Its a slightly different carrier to the saloon, designed to fit where the hex screws are on the hardtop. The hardtop locks use the same barrel as the door locks, and the keys are the same.diable wrote:Might be like the locking wheel nuts where there are X amount of them then they repeat themselves.

BMW could probably make you up a new barrel for the roof bars which match your door locks, so the key that fits the door will fit the bars......?
I've had a replacement ignition barrel and keys cut recently from my VIN and it only took about a week.

That might work out a tad expensive, there are 4 locks to the roof bar system! I bought a hardtop with roofbars you see, on the promise that the keys would follow, but alas that's not going to happen. The roof bars were always an accessory with a different key to the car, so I'm going to try the local dealer, see if they will help without a V5, by taking in a bar.beemerbird wrote:BMW could probably make you up a new barrel for the roof bars which match your door locks, so the key that fits the door will fit the bars......?
