The E46 M3 CS is originally from BMW Park Lane

However, I have bought a lot of parts for the E30 from BMW Park Lane Classic several £000s worth

Seriously I think you should have sold some of your E30s and bought the £20k Sport as a museum piece / Sunday driver / road trips and keep one of your E30s to drift / cane / rag everywhere

That way you got the best of both worlds. A super nice example to cherish admire take to shows, concours etc. And an example to really get the buzz from driving ie drifting , caning, blipping it everywhere etc

Won't be long before we see E30 325i Sport sell for £30k
Being helped by E30 M3 prices and the next best thing is the Sport
Also Sport is cult classic in UK
Renewed interest in all 80s cult / classics / greats
Of course there is some overlap with E30 M3 market

The sport is not the next best thing to an M3, what about all the alpina and hartge variations? And I think the e30 in general is a cult classic no just the sport

Despite all that this one is unorecedented and overpriced.

The buyer has made a boo-boo when you consider a very good M3 could have been had for that money.

I too thought the £20k sport was overpriced, by about £5k IMO but more than on person was willing to pay £20k for it and as they say "something is only worth what someone is willing to pay". Ergo it was worth £20k

You will struggle to get a very good E30 M3 for £20k!

Most are rubbish at the £15-20k mark and you really need to be spending £25k+ to get something decent and even then its still a minefield.

In the UK, the sport has a cult following where E30's in general have a World wide classic appeal with the M3 being a Motorsport icon.

I was referring to the products within the BMW E30 range offered directly from
BMW and ignoring any tuner specials of which Alpina, Hartge are very few and far between.

When I was growing up (in my childhood) the Sport was the E30 to have. In the 1990s I saw lots of them slammed, tinted, with council exhausts and big stereos. In the 80s not that I remember many of them then but all the Yuppies had them and they would fit right in that OFAH Yuppy Love episode :-)
I used to have a Corgi Tech1 Sport in white as kid. I think it was a Sport. I was aware of the M3. I brought (white) E30 M3 to "show and tell" and no joke some kid broke the rear spoiler. I was p1ssed. Lol.

Jimbo I think you should have got that Sport the £20k and kept as garage queen. Then keep 1 or 2 cheap E30s to abuse/rag/drift.

I'm not sure spending £20k of my kids inheritance on a car worth £10k is a very good investment plan though to be honest mate :)

I also thought the £20k Sport was a bit overpriced and based on previous values be somewhere between £10-15k. At least there are some nice original Sports out there.
