Okay my conversion is done, engine fires fine but it sounds like a tractor from cold. I think it improves slightly once up to temperature but i'm not too sure.
I can't take it for a drive as my suspension isn't completed and will only last 10-15min or so on the drive as my fan isn't connected.
The engine hasn't been used for a considerable amount of time, is this standard on an m52 that hasn't been used in quite some time and should i be worried?
* There's no dash lights on, there is oil in the top of the engine as i've removed the rocker, used 10w40 Castrol semi-synthetic oil.
Thanks
Ashley

Hmm, tappets or injectors? Have you tried the ghetto stethoscope method of putting a long screwdriver against the injectors or side of the head and the other end to your ear to find the source of the tapping?

+1. And if you find it's the injectors making the noise, pull the boot back on the camshaft position sensor to check the state of the wiring.HairyScreech wrote:Hmm, tappets or injectors? From what I've read on another post it will clear up when driven. Hydraulic tappets need to fill up properly.

If all goes according to plan it should be drivable very soon, apart from this problem she idles nice and revs all the way to redline very smoothly so fingers crossed.
If the drive doesn't cure it i'll get the "stethoscope" out.
