Just finishing off the s50 conversion and plan on buying a kenlowe fan as I've obviously removed the viscous fan.

My question is what's the biggest fan that will fit in the space in front off the radiator/slam panel ?

Thanks in advance

I used a 14" fan fixed to the S50 rad.

Biggest fan you can get in is whatever size the standard E34 aircon fan is. 16", I think, but I've never checked.

I only ask as I've found a new 17" kenlowe for a sensible price but don't want to buy it to then have it not fit

17" will not fit. A 16" is a tight fit but will just get in.

E36 fans are push not pull like the one you have fitted. Unless you can flip the blades and reverse the motor you won't have enough cooling.....

I've got a 16" Kenlowe on mine, it only just fits, a 17" one wouldn't go in without a bit of bodywork chopping!

Took this into consideration mate and swapped the wires around today and rechecked..fan kicks in just over the half way mark on the temp gauge and cools it down to a just over a quarter 8)

also pushes cool air into the engine bay now so i think it should be fine

Electric fan shouldn't have any effect on the engine's temp. gauge. That's not its job.
Engine temp. should be controlled solely by the coolant thermostat in the outlet elbow. Electric fan's job is to ensure that there's a supply of sufficiently cold coolant to blend into the engine for the coolant 'stat to be able to do its job.
