Gotta renew my fluid.
Should I start front right or back left or where ?
Also would 500ML of brake fluid do?
When emptying how should I do it? Should I just open the valves n let it do it itself which will prob take years or where should I start ?
I want all fresh fluid

Here you go :)

http://www.e30zone.net/e30zonewiki/inde ... s#Bleeding

I used 500ml had some to spare. You can for the future get speed bleeders (more common on motorbikes), but that's only useful if you bleed a lot.

Edited: Sorry just realised it doesn't say what order. :o: Furthest away from the MC so I would say driver side rear, passenger rear, driver front, passenger front... awaiting to be corrected though.

Wiki fails to mention that if changing fluid, you should first remove as much old fluid as possible from the reservoir with a large syringe, and refill it with new before touching the brake pedal. In the absence of any kind of pressure bleeder, gravity alone will do the job.
Don't forget to change the clutch fluid as well.

Same way as brakes, but there's only one bleed nipple to contend with.

If u have a syringe on the bleed valve do you still have to push the brake?
What size is the bleed nipple in MM?

You start from the brake fluid res (in the engine bay on passenger side) opening the cap and sucking out as much old brake fluid as poss with the syringe.

Then add new fluid to the brake fluid res that you have just emptied to the brim.

Then starting at the wheel furthest away for the brake fluid res open the bleed nipple, normally 7mm use a six point socket for best grip. If it looks corroded maybe a soak in Something like WD40 would help overnight. Brake bleed nipples snap easy!

If said nipple moves a length of old windscreen washer pipe fits perfect on the end, with the other end of the pipe in a milk bottle with some brake fluid in it to stop sucking up any addition air, you could use the old fluid that was syringed out.

Open the nipple with a 7mm spanner or ideally a specialist brake spanner untill fluid runs out without bubbles. Brake fluid is cheap and the more new that is put in to flush out old the better. Wiki shod explain the rest......

Clutch fluid change is very much the same and transforms a heavy feeling pedal. bleeding should not be required as long as the res is not left to run dry of fluid

If after I sucked all the fluid from the reservoir I sucked it from the nipple (No laughing) would that stop me getting dirty fluid in with the new?
Or should I avoid sucking from the nipple.

Syringe to empty the brake fluid reservoir (that's what you have done)

Fill reservoir with fresh fluid, flush system with around 500ml then re add 500ml = 100% fresh fluid

See thorough piping on the brake bleed nipple, undoing the nipple like a bolt will make the fluid come out, as Brian said by the pull of gravity feed

I take it you are using DOT 4 spec fluid

If your still unsure there is prob a you tube vid to give the idea of how to bleed/change brake fluid.

You can suck at the nipple as you put it, if you want to, but AT NO TIME remove any fluid from any nipple by any means, UNLESS THE RESERVOIR IS FULL.

I do it with a looooooooooong clear tube, this way seems to clear all air and you can see fresh fluid coming through, and all can be done sitting in the car whilst pumping the brake pedal.

Although if you lose the looooooooooong tube, you get your 7 year old to pump the brake pedal whilst you lay under the car on nipple detail :D

The reason I ask is I'm gonna be by myself so I can't push the pedal.

You are changing the fluid, not bleeding out air. You don't need to push the pedal!
Just open up the bleed nipples (with a tube into a jar fitted) and wait, while keeping the reservoir topped up.
