I have just fitted an M20 to a 318i, plugged it all in but it won't fire up. I've tested CPS, spark and fuel are present. The c101 car side has a red/yellow wire at pin 20 and the engine side has no wire. I've also tested for 12v at the ecu block pins 27 and 18. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks.

Was the engine running recently, or has it been sitting about for ages? You could try spraying carb or brake cleaner down the throttle body while cranking it over (assuming it does?).
Also ensure you have plenty of fresh fuel in the tank; when was the fuel filter last replaced?

It was completely rebuilt from the ground up, don't know much about its past though. I had bridged the dme relay with no luck, however I put a spare relay in it and she roared to life! Pretty loud with Just a manifold on! Got to try and get it to idle now...

You should let the engine idle for at least 10 minutes to enable base idle settings to be learnt. Then switch off and drive the car (if possible) throughout the rev range.
