My 2.0 is very hard to drive when cold. Anything more than minimal pressure on the accelerator causes the car to hesitate and stutter and it won't rev freely. Could this be down to our old friend the blue temp' sensor, or is it just a trait of a 17 year old car?

When the engine reaches running temperature it's fine, although it can hesitate a bit when pulling away.

maybe's worth checking over things like dizzy cap etc in case it is a condensation issue or something trivial like that, it could also point towards an air leak on the induction system somewhere, particularly inlet manifold gasket?

Just some suggestions. If you have a multimeter then i'm sure I have seen Brianmooore advise of the relavant resistance that should be present at different temperatures, before you spend any money on bits.
