Hi All,

Back in the fold after many years, wanted a Mint low mileage fsh E30 to pug away and use sparingly on nice dry summer days and take to a few local classic car shows in the summer months.

Those of you who know me by now know that im one of these (self confessed!!) strange people who prefer small engines, no spec, more doors, auto boxes, originality, and wheeltrims!!

Therefore I have purchased from Old Colonel Cars my perfect E30. This car will appeal to absolutely nobody on here except me, and the only other person in the world to love it would be the person who ordered it new!! Im sitting down ready for the laughing posts about its povertyness!! :D

Ive had a 316i, 318i, 320i, and 325i but REALLY wanted a 316 as my keeper just because its basicness has a whole different appeal to me:

To that end I have found an utterly Mint Zinnobar Red 1987 E reg 316 Auto moredoor with zero spec - it has no sunroof, wheeltrims as opposed to alloys, it has manual windows, no foglights, never even had a radio fitted so no aerial on the bodywork or speakers inside. Its as pure as they come with only options specced new bering the auto box and power steering.

It has a genuine 41,000 miles on the clock and is like new inside. Dealer mats from new, with original keyrings, rear sticker, original plates, original window stickers on the front screen, original tax disc holder. It has the original bookpack with all original business cards, original handbook, service book, warranty book etc etc - absolutely every pirce of paper from new and has been in 25 times to the supplying BMW dealer for servicing - its as complete and mint as they come. Ill be popping it into our local BMW dealer for servicing to keep it right. Its tucked up in my garage in its air chamber with its cosy cover on.

The pictures....ill await the slagging but remember this is exactly what I wanted as im a "less is more" kinda guy, its lack of spec is what appeals to me:

PPS The drivers winder handle needs removing and refitting so that is in the same position as the other three when closed / opened :D

Cheers mate much appreciated, I honestly think the drivers seat is the only one ever to have been sat in, everything is just completely unmarked, the headlining gleams!! None at present but ill grab some - ill need to get it properly detailed though as its completely original and slightly grubby.....but not for long to the extent bits will be getting taken off to be cleaned properly!!

Lovely. It's always good to hear that there are 'as new' ones out there. Fabulous richness to the paint, too.

This is another level of absurdity, true timewarp condition! Beautiful.

Plus the cricket green stripes on the floor mats is an interesting touch... :D

That is a cracking example. It's spec and number of doors etc. make it even better. Excellent find. Really refreshing to look through these pics. :D

Thanks Bear and Darkchild much appreciated indeed, means a lot does that. It was the spec (or lack of!) and condition that drew me to it. I've never been one for chasing the biggest engine and most spec that I could find (clearly!) :-) looking forward to some nice sunny day runs ( more a meander along rather than a blast!)

Thanks Pony, much appreciated indeed. Love that steering wheel too - it was the same wheel my Dad had on his E30 in the early 90s...its the one I associate E30's with I guess despite me having had a few E30's with the SE wheel. I have the airflow air chamber the one that has a frame and is free standing even when its not running - I used to have the car coon but it was too much a guddle when it deflated around the car - at least you can just drive in and out this one in the garage. Its garaged, in the air chamber, with a breathable car cover on...but im eventually wanting a soft tailored one for it.

How much was the air chamber ? Would E46 fit ?

every one of those meagre miles will have been piloted in a tie with the doris and her husband Malcolm sat in the back on the way to a church coffee morning. it may have been on sveral trips to Cleethorpes for a fish supper. love it"!. hope you'll respect the drivers seat by only wearing soft loose fitting slacks during high speed runs up to 29mph and not tormenting the upholstry with those "blue jeans" teenagers wear. strangely it quite an appealing car. in a modern age its sometimes nice to be analogue awkward and reject all the advances of electronics and make a stand in 1988 forever. after all the future is grey for all of us....

Pony, was £450 and yes an E46 deffo would fit. Ill look out a link for you...

Poverty haha that's made me chuckle, quite agree!!

Topblag...thanks very much but I love the trims so shall keep standard...think bottletops would change its povertyness somehow. Im going to order a brand new set of trim from BMW if they still do them. Appreciate the offer though!! :-)
