I'm stripping my 325i Sport ready for the bodyshop and on removing the rear seats came across some evidence of fire damage under the lower seat - burning to the seat belt and side trim - not noticeable unless removed but close to the fuel tank - just interested if this is an issue on these cars or has been seen before.
Thanks

Looks like the battery cable may have shorted out at some time.

Indeed ! Some hero decided it would be a good idea to do some structural welding without stripping the interior out . I bet that got interesting real quick !

Reminds me of the time when I was 15 and my Dad was welding some angle iron to the suspension on my beaten up track R5 (farmer style hero welding

) and it set fire to the fag packets myself and my mate had hidden inside the bottom of rear side panel

He never said anything

Reminds me of helping my brother as a kid while he welded up old Minis and the like. "Just sit in there with this wet rag and when it catches? Put it out!"......
I always got the nice jobs!
