Don't worry about the wear and tear. Get whatever you like that's within your budget! Everything in & on a car wears out as it is inevitable! Even when it's standing still long enough things will go tits up eventually. And by the time the leather on what was a new steering wheel is hanging off the years will have past and you are likely to have more important issues on your prehistoric flintstone e30 then a worn steering wheel. Besides, by that time you probably fancy another one anyway.

I have noticed that patience is the key with retrimmed auctions. The 3 spoke above for instance (3'rd pic from the top) was recently sold for just a 121 euro's which is reasonable imo:

On the other hand they can also be ridiculous expensive when not offering an old wheel to retrim:

Here's the lot from Germany. Prices vary greatly!

Another option is to make a nice deal with you local retrimmer with an old wornout bargain or do what i did and be happy with a second hand original in good condition :D

I have a small tec1 wheel. Was thinking of getting it refurbed and get the thumb grips added in with perforate leather on the sides and normal leather top and bottom... Or was it the other way around....
