I'm re-trimming my headlining using a mid/light grey material. Just wondering what my options are for the sun visors, they're currently cream/beige?

Vinyl paint/dye?

I've seen black ones for sale, although none on eBay at the moment. There are leather covers, but don't really want to shell out £40 for them and I don't think they'd look that good anyway.

Were there any grey ones as stock?

Or will e36/46 or other model fit?

Yes that would be nice, what sort of money do they change hands for?

And would solve the problem of getting the headlining material stretched and shaped around the mirror bit - that's the bit I'm most concerned about.

It's a touring with electric sunroof. But doesn't currently have the check computer. Is the loom there for it to just plug in and work or is there a lot more involved.

Halfords do a black vinyl dye that comes out quite well if used properly, mine have been black with it for nearly 2 years now, no fading no peeling or cracking, they look and feel just like they have always been black.

Depends if the car is a daily slag or a pampered garage queen I guess.

Touring headliner is completely different from that fitted to saloons! The touring uses a fibreglass shell with foam backed liner material glued to it, whereas the saloons use a 'conventional' headliner, with fabric stretched between support bars.
The black overhead panel is fitted to saloons with a sunroof, but a touring with a sunroof just uses a different fibreglass liner to one without a sunroof. The panel can be fitted to a touring, but work needs to be done at the rear of the panel to make it fit against a touring liner.
Check computer wiring is integral to the main body loom on cars fitted with it, and it would need a LOT of work, including a different fusebox, to retrofit on a car that doesn't have it.

thanks guys, I wondered how that sun visor panel fitted, thought from the pic it just laid over the top but was thinking wouldn't that be really bulky  makes sense now.

I'll check out the dye, might be worth a shot. Can always replace with genuine black ones at a later date.
